Invaluable Treatment Factor

The value, treatment wise, of keeping a journal is more than can be expressed here, in today’s entry. Let me touch upon it briefly. If you’ve noticed, recent blog entries have been just random dialogue about this or that, mere expressions of my soul. This is because I am actually attempting to heal from a recent co-dependency condition of my own.

It happened by simply becoming overly involved with a client, while attempting to prevent an overdose from heroin. For the past couple years, I became dependent on phone calls re-assuring me this client was still alive. To add context, I started working with this client, during a time when three other clients died from heroin overdoses, within a few months of each other. I became determined not to lose another.

Today, this particular client is doing awesome and has reached intermediate remission. The phone calls have stopped, daily and nightly concern has dissipated. The void caused a great deal of cognitive dissonance in my mind. I lost all motivation and entered depression. It was suggested, as I have recommended dozens and dozens of times, to start journaling. So here I am, only two weeks out, and feeling great!
