I’m alright today! In fact, I’ve been alright since I found a way to cross and got there. And now, I’m going to leave it all out there to dry. If this sounds familiar then you’ve probably heard Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. I am often inspired by music and this particular song grabs me. It does because what I do is help people find a way to cross over. One of the more challenging things, when addressing a heroin addiction with buprenorphine/naloxone medication is the transition, or cross over. While addicted to heroin, it’s extremely frightening to let it go and take a substitute medication. This one in particular also prevents clients from being able to feel the full effects of heroin, in the event a change of heart and a decision to get high occurs.
Nathaniel Rateliff says it well right here!
Of course, then the client tapers down and stops the medication. Once this point is reached, the client is basically in the raw, dealing with their raw emotional self. Ongoing support and treatment is very helpful in this regard. Then you have to leave all those insecurities, underlying issues, and delusional thoughts out there to dry. When clients neglect to address this final phase of their remission process, they begin to worry me!
