Purpose and Meaning

While in the clutches of an addiction, the only real purpose and meaning to life is to feed that addiction. Sure, while high, prior to being completely out of it, there may be thoughts and dreams; but, there they remain as simply thoughts and dreams.

My Dad tried to wake my up out of my teen and young adulthood stupor. I recall him saying “all you do is dream, and dream, and dream.” I didn’t really get his point until years later. When you have a dream and make it your purpose and meaning, you start to take action and walk toward fruition of that dream.

Boredom is often expressed as a huge trigger for folks in early remission. Do things, all sorts of things, anything. This will lead you to form your purpose and meaning in life. Once you have purpose and meaning, boredom ceases to exit.
